Accurate details at checkout are the single biggest lever on whether a parcel is delivered on the first attempt.
Every shipment carries an address record created at checkout. When that record is incomplete — a missing flat number, a wrong PIN code, an unreachable phone — couriers attempt delivery, fail, re-attempt, and eventually return the parcel. Validating the address against the customer's own confirmation closes that gap before dispatch, which is why letting a customer confirm what's on file for their number is a simple, consent-respecting way to keep records clean.
Return to Origin (RTO) — a parcel sent back undelivered — is one of the largest hidden costs in Indian direct-to-consumer commerce, especially for cash-on-delivery orders. RTO reduction combines address validation, OTP confirmation, and delivery-risk scoring to catch bad addresses early. A customer verifying their own number and confirming the address on file is the cleanest signal of all: it comes directly from the person the parcel is going to.
